Nepali Congress vice president Ram Chandra Poudel has said there is no possibility of fresh Constituent Assembly elections taking place on November 22.

NC vice president Ram Chandra PoudelSpeaking to local media persons in his home town, Damauli, after laying the foundation stone of the office building of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) on Thursday, Poudel said the polls "cannot be held without amending the Interim Constitution whereas there is no parliament to make the amendment".

Blaming the Maoists for the dissolution of the CA, Poudel said the elections declared unilaterally by the Maoists are not at all going to happen.

The NC leader also said there is still possibility of drafting the constitution through talks between the parties as there are only a few issues that need to be sorted out. However, he did not mention how such a statute would be introduced.

He also said the new constitution should maintain the communal harmony and that his party was strongly opposed to ethnicity-based federal system. neaplnews.com
