Visiting British Minister of State for International Affairs Alan Duncan met UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and discussed Nepal’s current political situation and British assistance to Nepal’s development on Wednesday.
During the meeting held at Dahal’s Naya Bazaar residence, Duncan emphasised on the need for early consensus between the political parties to end the current deadlock and suggested Dahal to take initiation for that, RSS said.
In response, Dahal said negotiations between the parties were going on and that consensus would emerge soon.
The recent split in the Maoist party also figured during Dahal-Duncan meeting.
The British minister arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday for a three-day visit. He started political parleys soon after landing in Kathmandu, meeting Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala first. nepalnews.com
