The UCPN (Maoist) is likely to hold its general convention by mid-March next year after a gap of 20 years.

Party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in his political report presented in the closed door session of the ongoing central plenum on Tuesday proposed to hold the general convention in the Nepali month of Falgun. Party sources said the plenum is all set to approve the proposal.

Dahal has also proposed to conduct the conventions of the district committees and state committees within the next two months along with the campaign to strengthen the party organization.

The party leadership had been facing pressure to announce the date for general convention even before the split in the party last month. nepalnews.com
