Senior journalist and news anchor Pravin Giri passed away on Sunday morning. He was 62.
Giri was one of most recognizable faces of Nepali television in the early 90s by virtue of being the prime time news anchor of Nepal Television (NTV). He used to also read news in another state-owned broadcaster Radio Nepal.
Giri, who was suffering from cancer for long, died while receiving of treatment at Om Hospital in Chabahil this morning.
He had also worked as senior news editor in private television channel Aveneus TV and Himalayan Television and taught economics at Nepal Commerce Campus in the capital.
He is survived by wife and four children. Family sources said that Giri's final rites will be performed later today. nepalnews.com
