The government has formed a ministerial team headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Gachchhadar to hold talks with parties to convince them on holding the polls in November.

The team has ministers Post Bahadur Bogati and Chandra Dev Joshi as members. Communication minister Raj Kishor Yadav said after the cabinet meeting Wednesday evening that the ministerial panel's mandate is to try to forge consensus on the new election date if the parties were not convinced on holding the Constituent Assembly election on November 22.

The government's decision comes in spite of the Election Commission's announcement earlier this week that it was unable to hold the elections in November for lack of necessary legal and constitutional frameworks.

The government has recommended two election-related ordinances to the President, but they are yet to be certified. nepalnews.com
