Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Thursday said he was ready to step down provided there was political consensus on identity-based federalism.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai inaugurating a function marking the World Ingenious..."I am ready to resign immediately if there is a guarantee of constitution with federalism in line with the spirit of the historic people's war, people's movement and the uprisings of the Madhesis and Janajatis," he said addressing a programme organised in the capital to mark the International Indigenous Day.

He added, "Running after the post of an individual without addressing the problems that led to the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly is meaningless."

"It's unfortunate that national politics is being confined to the issue of government change by overshadowing the causes of majority of people," said he. nepalnews.com
