Nepali Congress leader Ram Saran Mahat Monday blamed his party's three main leaders – president Sushil Koirala, vice president Ram Chandra Poudel and Sher Bahadur Deuba – for failing to give a direction to the party.

Speaking at the Reporters' Club, Mahat said the NC had not been able to give an outlet to the current political stalemate because of clash of personal interests of the three key leaders.

In a rare outburst against the party establishment, Mahat said the NC would not be hostage to their egos and personal interests and that other leaders would ready to step in if they continued to keep the party in a state of indecision.

"The residences of the leaders are not going to be the NC's meeting venue's anymore," he said, "If they cannot give an outlet, we will intervene."

The NC leader also said that the President should be active "in order to keep democracy and the constitution alive".

"The President should not stay mum," said he, "The NC will name its prime ministerial candidate as soon as the President makes a call for formation of a unity government." nepalnews.com
