Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-Nepal) chairman Kamal Thapa Tuesday ruled out the possibility of merger between his party and the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) led by former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa.

Speaking at the Reporters Club, Thapa said RPP-Nepal, RJP and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) were close to an agreement according to which they would accept the policy changes made from a joint general convention, but RJP changed its stance in the last minute saying that the ideological position must be agreed upon right now.

The RPP-N chairman said possibility of unity with RPP were still on but the party would not sit for unity talks with RJP anymore. Whether RPP-Nepal and RPP will merge will be clear in a few days, Thapa said.

According to him, the RPP-Nepal would not be ready for merger by compromising its ideological positions on monarchy, Hindu state and nationality.
