Senior leaders of the main opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) and ruling CPN (UML) met on Monday over the stalemate in the legislature parliament, but they still seemed far from reaching an agreement.
Maoist deputy parliamentary party leader Narayankaji Shreshta said after the meeting that the discussion was inconclusive as the UML was not ready to soften its position on the demands put forth by his party.
The Maoist party has been obstructing the regular proceedings of the parliament ever since the new government was formed, protesting the President's move reinstating the army chief sacked by the erstwhile Maoist-led government.
UML leader and Prime Minister Mahdav Kumar Nepal's chief political advisor Raghuji Pant, who was present at today's meeting held at the Maoist parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar, said the draft of the agreement on resuming the parliamentary proceedings would be finalised after discussion with the Nepali Congress. According to him, next round of meeting on Tuesday may arrive at a conclusion on the issue. nepalnews.com June 29 09
