Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has suspended all 24 employees working in its Amlekhgunj depot alleging them of being involved in financial embezzlement, Nagarik daily reported.

The Corporation, which had suspended depot chief Dinesh Yadav and deputy chief Prakash Sharma last month, suspended 22 remaining employees last week after it established their involvement in a financial embezzlement amounting to some Rs 30 million.

NOC has concluded staffs of all levels at the depot were involved in the embezzlement, where a loss was feigned by showing technical leakage of petroleum products.

Four of the suspended, Shree Chandra Shrestha, Prakash Shrivastav, Baijnath Chaudhary and Purna Hangsang are senior officers, while the remaining are helpers.

NOC has claimed the suspension will not hamper the day to day administration of its Amlekhgunj depot. The employees were first transferred to Kathmandu and suspended to avert sudden manpower staff in Amlekhgunj depot. Â

According to NOC executive director Digambar Jha, a further probe will be conducted individually on each of the suspended staff and a final decision will be taken in 45 days. nepalnews.com
