The Constituent Assembly (CA) has amended its calendar of events for the 8th time on Wednesday as the three key CA committees failed to finalise their respective concept papers within deadline.

However, the May 28 (2010) deadline to promulgate the new constitution remains unchanged.

As per the changed calendar, the three CA committees - Constitutional Committee, Committee on Determining the State's Governing System and State Restructuring Committee - are required to complete debate on their respective concept papers by January 21, 2010.

These committees were to finalise the concept papers by December 15, but they failed to do so owing to sharp differences among the major political parties.

The CA had amended its calendar for the seventh time in November. nepalnews.com
