A day after Home Minister Bhim Rawal said political protection of criminals is making it difficult for the government to maintain law and order, government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communication Shankar Pokharel also said involvement of the political cadres in criminal activities is a real problem.

Speaking at a programme organised by Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) in the capital on Saturday minister Pokharel said more than two-third known criminals are getting political protection.

Referring to the proposed new security plans being introduced, Pokharel further said the UML-led coalition government would leave no stone unturned in combating abductions, killings and disruption of transport services.

Pokhrael also urged the political parties to extent support to the government to restore peace and stability in the country as early as possible. nepalnews.com
