National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) member Gauri Pradhan speaking at a press conference organised to make public the investigation report on the killing of three women in a firing...
Organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday, NHRC said its field investigation of the incident has proved that the deceased females were not poachers as claimed by the army.

The rights watchdog said Nepal Army has hid the evidences to produce fake reports that the victims - Devisara B.K, Amrita B.K and Chandra Kala B.K - were killed in a retaliatory firing.

NA in its report had earlier stated the three women had entered the national park along with few others for hunting and were shot dead after they opened fire at the army patrol.

However, the NHRC said that no evidences of rape of the three women by the army men were found, as claimed by the locals. According to NHRC investigation, they were shot in their back from a distance despite possibilities of taking them under control for investigation.

NHRC has recommended action against 15 army personnel led by Subodh Kunwar who were involved in the incident, compensation of Rs 300,000 each and free education for the children of the deceased women. nepalnews.com
