The British government has raised fees for all types of visa effective from April 6.

According to the British embassy in Kathmandu, the short term visit visa fee has gone up from £67 to £68, tier 1 (general, investor, entrepreneur) from £675 to £690 and tier 2 (skilled worker) has increased from £265 to £270. Similarly, 5-year multiple entry visa fee has increased from £400 to £420 and the 10-year visa increases from £500 to £610.

Likewise, fee for student visa (tier 4 ) has been hiked from £145 to £199, the settlement visa fee from £585 to £644 while the dependent relative visa is being introduced at a cost of £1680.

The embassy said subsidised visa categories include tourist visas and also the tier four student visa which reflects the contribution made by international students to the UK economy and education, it added.

A new visa category is also being introduced, known as 'dependent relative'. This category allows grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles and siblings who are over the age of 18 years to join family members who are settled in Britain or are being admitted for the purpose of settlement. nepalnews.com
