A general strike called by Federal Limbuwan State Council (Revolutionary), protesting the encroachment of border by India, has thrown normal life in nine eastern districts out of gear on Saturday.

Transportation services, factories and main marketplaces in Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Ilam, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Tehrathum, Dhakuta and Taplegunj districts remain largely closed.

The Limbuwan activists staged protest rallies at different places, closing down shops and forcing vehicles to stay off the road. They have also blocked highways by placing logs and bounders.

However, there were no reports of violence during the bandh.

The Council has demanded that India immediately stop encroachment of Nepali land and return the occupied territory back to Nepal. nepalnews.com
