Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala, who garnered support from Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday for formation of a high level political mechanism, has discussed the issue with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Tuesday.

The meeting held at Koirala’s residence in Maharajgunj this morning primarily focused on its formation and representation of the smaller parties in the mechanism.

PM Nepal is learnt to have sought Koirala’s help for formation of such mechanism as early as possible to ward off the pressures that he has been facing from opposition and coalition partners.

The two leaders, principally, agreed to end the oath dispute related to vice president Paramanda Jha within a week. The government has already hinted for constitutional amendment to allow individuals to take oath in their mother tongue.

The other issue discussed by the leaders was new phase of obstruction seen in parliament from opposition UCPN (Maoist) protesting the reported arms deal with India. Content of the PM Nepal’s likely address at the parliament today to clarify the issue was also briefly discussed. nepalnews.com
