Negotiation between the government and the agitating Nepal Educational Republican Forum (NERF) started Thursday morning as thousands of schools around the country remained closed for the second day on Thursday. Representatives of the pro-Maoist NERF and the government officials held talks at the Ministry of Education in the morning. After a couple of hours, he talks were put off until 4 pm as both the talks teams wanted some time for homework.
The NERF launched agitation from Wednesday demanding implementation of agreements reached with the previous government on various issues including giving permanent status to temporary teachers of institutional schools and guarantee of salary and perks to private school teachers commensurate with the government scale.
