Nepali Congress has sought suggestions from its lawmakers to set party's stand on federalism and the form of government under the new political set-up after country adopts a new constitution.
NC called the meeting of its lawmakers Thursday at the party headquarters Sanepa to seek suggestions on state restructuring. The central committee members during the last three meetings had expressed conflicting views on federalism.
The lawmakers have apprised the party leadership that the proposed draft of federalism presented at the central working committee is not in line with the party's manifesto unveiled during the constituent assembly elections.
NC's election manifesto remains silent on federalism. The lawmakers also suggested to take into account the demands raised by various ethnic and terai based groups but warned that guaranteeing rights to a group must not hamper others.
Failing to concretise views on federalism at its ongoing central committee meeting, NC sought suggestions from MPs since parliamentary party is more inclusive than central committee. nepalnews.com
