At a time when constitution-drafting process has taken a backseat amid growing political rift, Constituent Assembly chairman Subas Nemwang has once again expressed confidence that the country will get a new constitution within the stipulated time.

"We have ten months to go. We must be able to draft the constitution by May (28th May, 2010), and we can do that," Nemwang said speaking at the opening function of the four-day education fair organised by Education Consultants Association of Nepal (ECAN) in Kathmandu Thursday.

Nemwang emphasised that broad political consensus is, however, a must to make sure that the statute is written on time and called upon the parties to forge unity just like they had done in the past.

Saying that the parties were not able to rise above partisan interest Nemwang also urged the parties to reach common understanding on national issues.

Citing dismal environment for investment in the country due to instability, he said the situation would improve only after the country gets a new constitution. He also requested those who have left Nepal for education or in search of better environment for investment to return to the country. nepalnews.com
