The Election Commission (EC) has begun collecting personal information from eligible voters to prepare digital identity cards for them from Monday.
A team from the EC reached caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal's private residence at Koteshowr this morning to get his signature in one of such digital ID card for him and the members of his family.
EC on Sunday had announced that it would distribute digital voter ID cards in 58 municipalities of some 43 districts by third week of November.
As per its plan, it would distribute such cards in remaining municipalities of 56 districts while 19 hilly districts would get the cards by July next year.
The commission has informed that it has developed a special computerized system to maintain its digital database for further use and probable updating. nepalnews.com
