AFC Cup: Korea, Philippines advance to semis

DPR Korea and Philippines have entered the semi-finals from Group “B” in the ongoing the AFC Challenge Cup.

Philippines defeated Tajikistan 2-1 to make it to semi-finals in the match played at APF stadium in Halchowk on Tuesday.

Though Tajikistan took a lead in the additional time of the first half, Philippines equalised the match in the 53rd minute through a goal from Philip Younghusband while Angel Aldeguer Guirado score in the 70th minute proved to be the winning goal for Philippines.

Today’s match was the decider match for the two teams (Philippines and Tajikistan) for semi-finals entry from Group “B”.

Korea had already entered semi-finals defeating Tajikistan 2-0 on Sunday and Philippines 2-0 in earlier match on March 9, they further added points defeating India 4-0 in the today’s match played at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu.

Mighty Korea’s Jon Kwang scored an opening goal in the early third minute while Ri Kwang Hyok doubled a score in the 34th minute.

Similarly, Korea maintained their scoring streak even in the second-half as Pak Nam Chol and Ri Chol Myong added one goal each in the 70th and 75th minute, respectively. nepalnews.com
