Region-VI Baitadi lifted the title of U-16 National Cricket Tournament, defeating Region-IV Bhairahawa in the final match at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Thursday.

Baitadi, the top team from Group ‘A’ defeated Bhairahawa, the winning team from Group ‘B’ by 6 wickets.

Electing to bat first, Bhairahawa set the target of 137 runs losing nine wickets in allotted 40 overs.

Chasing the target, Baitadi met the target in 28.3 overs with the loss of four wickets. Dipendra Chand and Tekendra Malla scored highest of 35 runs each while Jagadish Chand contributed 18 runs.

Altogether eight region teams participated in the event - Region No. 2 Birgunj, Region No. 3 Kathmandu, Region No. 6 Baitadi and Region No. 7 Janakpur from Group ‘A’ while Region No. 4 Bhairahawa, Region No. 5 Nepalgunj, Region No. 1 Biratnagar and Region No. 8 Pokhara from Group ‘B’. nepalnews.com
