Wushu team leaves for Vietnam for Asian Championship

An eight member Nepali wushu team left for Ho Chi Min, Vietnam on Saturday to participate in the Eighth Asian Wushu Championship scheduled to be held from August 21 to 25.

The players include - Raj Kumar Rai (52 kg) and Yubaraj Gurung (56 kg) who will compete in sanshou category in men's section.

Similarly, Niraj Ale Magar will be competing in chang quan all-round and Raju Maharjan in nan quan all-round.

In women's section, Jharana Gurung will compete in women´s 56 kg sanshou while Bidhya Maharjan will compete in thaulo´s nan quan all round and Binita Maharjan in tai-chi quan all round.

Altogether 55 countries will compete in the championship during the five day event. This is the second time Nepal is participating in the event as Raju and Yubaraj had participated in the sixth edition of the championship held in Myanmar.

All the players are gold medalists of the Sixth National Games held in Far Western Region. nepalnews.com
