Nepal lost against Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the Plate Championship of ICC U-19 World Cup played at Peter Burge Oval, Brisbane in Australia Monday.

Electing to bat first, Nepal posted a meager target of 80 runs losing all their wickets in 27.3 overs during their nine place play-off quarter-finals. Subash Khakurel scored 22 runs, the highest in Nepal's innings, while Raju Pulami Magar contributed 16 runs.

Tharindu Kaushal grabbed three wickets while Amila Aponso, Ranitha Liyanarachchi and Sanitha de Mel took two wickets each and Lahiru Madushanka took one wicket for Sri Lanka.

Chasing the target, Sri Lanka easily chased the target at 20.4 overs losing two wickets with 176 balls remaining as Shehan Fernando scored 48 runs while Sebastian Perera made 16 runs. Bhuwan Karki and Prithu Baskota took one wicket each for Nepal. nepalnews.com
