'Nepalese SummerFest' to be held in Virginia

Nepalese SummerFest, which will showcase a variety of entertainment, sports and learning activities, is set to kick off on May 25 (Memorial Day Weekend) at the Sheraton Premiere in Tysons Corner, Virginia, USA.

The SummerFest is a 3-day event promises to entertain, engage, and educate attendees with programmes including a concert featuring Nepathya, Ayurveda and Eugeneration Project bands, cultural programmes, sporting events, arts exhibitions, entrepreneur workshop, forums and programmes for children.

"SummerFest enthusiastically focuses on Nepalese heritage, culture, and the ever evolving lifestyle in the United States and Canada. It will also be a platform for individuals and organisations to showcase their talents, ideas, products, services, and causes," a statement issued by the organiser said.

According the organiser, a portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to charitable organisations. So far it has partnered with GMIN (Grass Root Movement in Nepal), ECDC (CNN Hero Nominated Pushpa Basnet), NYF (Nepal Youth Foundation), CYF (Children & Youth First Nepal), Adhikaar, Survodaya USA, Committed and Help Nepal Network. nepalnews.com
