Ambassador Chalise with VC awardee Tul B. Pun.
Newly appointed envoy of Nepal to the United Kingdom, Dr Suresh Chandra Chalise, has called on Victoria Cross (VC) winners veteran Gurkhas Lacchiman Gurung and Tul Bahadur Pun.

Dr Chalise called on their residences at Hunslow in London on Tuesday and inquired about their health. During the meeting, Dr Chalise appreciated their role in the Second World War and said British Gurkhas were the backbone of Nepal’s relations with Britain.

During the meeting, both the Victoria Cross winners expressed happiness to meet the ambassador and also shared stories from their service days, a press released issued by the Nepali embassy in London said.

Tul Bahaur Pun was awarded Victoria Cross for his heroic action during the World War Second in 1944 while Lachhiman Pun was awarded VC for his combat action in 1945. nepalnews.comÂ
