Foreign Minister Madhav Ghimire has said that the government is committed to guarantee well-being and security of foreign migrant workers.

Speaking at a launch of a book on Nepali women working in Gulf countries, in the capital on Sunday, he said, “The government remains committed for the welfare and security of foreign migrant workers.”

He further urged the manpower companies to only send Nepali workers for foreign employment after giving them necessary trainings to make them comptent in the work they will be doing abroad.

Other speakers participating in the programme complained about growing malpractices in the manpower business, adding that foreign migrant workers are often duped, are lied about the salary they will receive and made to work in difficult working condition because of which they are often victims of exploitation and abuse.
