Paddy production up by 10 pc in Terhathum

Paddy production has increased in Terhathum district this year with timely rainfall during the plantation season.

The production has increased by 10 percent this year compared to the previous year, according to the District Agriculture Development Office.

Meanwhile, the price of the paddy has also increased this year. The 52.5 kgs of paddy is being sold at Rs 2,400 while the same was Rs 2,000 last year, RSS quoted the local farmers as saying.

Lack of fertiliser and workers have been serious problems in agriculture sector in the locality, RSS quoted a local farmer Raj Kumar Rasaili as saying. “Due to these problems the plantation cost has also gone up this year.”

Paddy is planted in some 10,124 hectares of land in the district, according to the District Agriculture Development Office.
