Minister for Finance Shanker Prasad Koirala has directed the officials of the revenue administration to work actively to meet the daily target of Rs 1 billion revenue collection.

At a programme organised by Big Taxpayers' Office on Monday, the Finance Minister urged the officials to fully utilise the time of mid-December to mid-January as this period is the time to collect more revenue in the country.

"Don’t lose your professionalism considering the incumbent government is leaving. The track and target taken by revenue is same whoever comes as the minister. Whoever comes as the finance minister looks at digit not the letters," he added.

Secretary at the Finance Ministry Shantaraj Subedi said that the performance of the bodies of the Ministry was weakening and added that officials' contribution to revenue digit would be made a basis of performance.

Subedi asked the officials to take special initiative to bring the multinational companies under the ambit of tax in a transparent way.

In the same program, Chief of Revenue Administration Division at the Ministry Rajan Khanal said that a clear concept should be developed whether the assigned body can collect half of the country's entire revenue.

Director at General of Inland Revenue Department Tankamani Sharma said that the Department was working to make the tax collection system speedy and transparent through a simplified technology instead of adding human resources.
