Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has dropped by 7.81 points to close at 787.07 points on Thursday from Sunday’s 794.88 points, last week.
The secondary market index witnessed downward trend on the first and second trading day as it went down by 10.46 points and 26.47 points respectively. However, the index increased by 8.09 points and 10.17 points on the third and last trading day. The market remained closed on Wednesday due to Christmas.
Over a week, NEPSE registered a turnover of Rs 2.27 billion trading 5.38 million units of shares of 130 companies.
A category companies contributed Rs 969 million which is 42.64 percent of the total transaction amount.
As per the sub-indices, commercial banks lost 13.97 points, hotel 8.32 points, other 21.14 points and hydropower 10.14 points. Manufacturing group gained 10.63 points, insurance 93.37 points, development banks 0.71 points and finance 2.87 points.
Nepal Bank (Rs 234.299 million), Nepal Bangladesh Bank (Rs 206.537 million), NCC Bank (Rs 114.563 million), NIC Asia Bank (Rs 104.603 million) and Sanima Bank (Rs 101.501 million) were the top five companies to register highest transaction.
