Taskforce formed to study feasibility of making Nepal a 'Free WiFi Zone'

The government has formed a taskforce to study the possibilities of declaring whole Nepal a Free WiFi Zone.

The taskforce has been formed as per the concept developed by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Anandaraj Khanal of the NTA is the member secretary of the taskforce. Similarly, the taskforce has Mahesh Adhikari, a member of the Nepal Tele-communication Authority (NTA) as the coordinator.

Other members of the committee include technical Under-Secretaries at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the National Planning Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and expert at Tribhuvan University.

Anandaraj Khanal of the NTA is the member secretary of the taskforce.

The taskforce has been asked to submit its report with suggestions and recommendations within 30 days of it starting work.

The taskforce would study the possibility of developing the country as a Free WiFi Zone and submit its report after studying and analysing the economic and technical means and resources.
