The 12th National Industrial Trade Fair and Cottage Industry Festival and Renewable Energy Week 2014 kicked off at the Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall in the capital on Thursday.
Inaugurating the five-day event, Interim Election Council Chairperson Khil Raj Regmi said that after attaining political stability, the country should focus on the economic development with the target of a prosperous Nepal.
Despite having multiple possibilities, general public have been facing hard life due to political instability in the country. However, he said the Constituent Assembly election has brought hopes in the people.
Speaking at the same occasion, Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala said the nation should prioritise cottage and small industries sector as it has also large contribution in the national economy.
Similarly, the private sector representatives have expressed worry over the slow growth rate of national economy. They said the government has been failing to give appropriate attention for the economic development of the country.
The event jointly organized by Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) and Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) has around 340 stalls from some 55 districts.
The fair is organised with an aim to promote domestic products and renewable energy by bringing all the entrepreneurs at the same platform, according to the organisers.
The organisers have also expected around 500,000 footfalls.
