The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) and the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) have formally agreed to implement the Safe Migration Project at the district-level.
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has provided grant assistance of Rs 800 million to the government for the implementation of the project which is under implementation since Shrawan, 2070 BS.
MoFALD Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha and MoLE Secretary Sureshman Shrestha signed the Memorandum of Understanding to this end here on Tuesday.
The MoU includes exchange of information on safe migration for foreign employment, operation of information and consultation centres for an increased access to information, ensuring justice to migrant workers and establishment of a rehabilitation home for the victims of foreign employment.
Besides, an employment fund will be set up for providing vocational training to those wishing to go abroad for jobs.
The program is implemented in Dang, Kaski, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, Udaypur, Siraha, Mahottari, Sindhuli and Jhapa by the MoLE and in Khotang, Sarlahi, Ramechhap, Nawalparasi, Sunsari, Kailali, Dhading, Dhanusha and Saptari by Helvetas under the SDC.
