The revenue collection of the government has increased by 22 percent during the first seven months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period, last fiscal year.
The revenue collection stood at Rs 188.9 billion in review period while same was recorded Rs 154.59 billion. However, the revenue collection is below the target of Rs 192.37 billion.
The revenue has been decreasing following the decline in the customs even though the internal revenue is satisfactory, RSS quoted Finance Ministry joint spokesperson Bhumiraj Sharma as saying.
The government had been time and again directing the revenue officials to meet the target. “Ministry Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi had directed for increasing it in the half-yearly review of revenue collection on 1 February, 2014.”
