New model buses to ply in Pokhara town

The Pokhara Bus Operators Committee is set to bring new model town buses into operation along with various facilities from Tuesday.

Some 17 green color buses of Euro-3 standard will come into operation by replacing the old 2000 and 2002 model buses, said Committee Chairman Maha Prasad Subedi.

The 25-feet long 83 inch  inner width, 6.3 ft tall and 32-seat buses are have environment friendly color, and are equipped with GPS, CC TV and LCD technology, have automatic doors  and will run from Bagar to Khaltemasina route in Pokhara.

 The Committee has been running 228 old model mini microbuses in town and 23 in rural areas and will provide Rs. 325,000 as compensation to the owners of 20 displaced buses.

The old model buses will be replaced in two years, said Subedi. The owners can cut the vehicle bodies to change model or can sell it in Terai region.

The new buses will have GPS technology that can provide information on where the vehicle has reached and in what speed. The new bus costs Rs. 4 million per vehicle.
