CII, FNCCI hold separate meetings with Prez Yadav, PM Koirala on investment

A delegation of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) led by its president Ajay S Shriram along with Nepali delegates from private sector held separate meetings with President Ram Baran Yadav and newly elected Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on the bilateral trade, economic relations and investment between the two countries.

During the meetings, the delegation acquainted that the Indian investors are keen to make joint investment in employment generation, hydropower, commercial agriculture and tourism in Nepal.

Shriram also urged the government for the favourable environment to do business in here. “Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and CII are also committed to work together for the employment generation and economic development of the country.”

After the meetings, the CII delegation expressed that it assured to convey the message of the government regarding the joint investment to the Indian investors. It also assured best support to boost the economic relationship between the two countries.

FNCCI and CII have agreed to work together for the trade and investment between Nepal and India, said FNCCI resident Suraj Vaidya. “Both the parties have also agreed to host Nepal-India Economic Summit turn by turn every year.”

The CII delegation is here in Kathmandu to participate in the 'Nepal Economic Summit 2014' jointly organised by the government and the FNCCI that kicked off in on Monday.

The Summit is organised with an aim to attract domestic and foreign investment in the country. The slogan of the three-day event is 'Destination Nepal for Investment'.
