The construction of a road section along the Koshi Highway that links China and India has resumed after settlement of disputes between the locals and the administrator
“After the District Administration Office and Road Division Office agreed to take initiative to heed their demands, the locals have come to an agreement to allow the construction works,” said Sal Bahadur Gurung, who is leading the local representatives.
The construction of the road section has been stalled for the past year after locals seized all equipments used in opening the track of the road section.
Locals of Pathivara said they would not obstruct construction of the road section if the ring road track was opened via Hedangana Gadi connecting Jamune Pokharai, Dhara, Golechaur, and Manedandaof the district. The Road Division Office had refrained from addressing the demand, citing high construction cost because of geographical difficulties.
The 276-km road section from Jogbani, India to Kimathamnka VDC of Sankhuwasabha district linking the border of China is under construction.
