Minister for Finance Ram Sharan Mahat has said this year’s budget will be presented on time at an interaction programme organised by the Reporter’s Club Nepal on Thursday.
“I assure you that the country will have a full budget this year on time,” Minister Mahat said at the programme. However, when asked when the country can expect a budget, Mahat refused to specify a time. The budget for the year 2013-14 was presented on time after two years, in July last year.
Minister Mahat said that the government’s top priority now is the constitution writing process, security, good governance and economic development. He informed that discussions on government's policies and programmes were underway and will take speed with the return of prime minister Sushil Koirala.
Commenting on the nomination of the remaining 26 Constituent Assembly (CA) members by the cabinet, Minister Mahat said that discussions are taking place to finalise the names.
