Officials of BOP project and operators of Mutual Food Industries of Japan has undertaken feasibility study of investment in Butwal and adjoining areas of Nepal.
The team on a three-day visit visited the Butwal Industrial District, Bhairahawa Special Economic Zone, discussed at the Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) and expressed willingness to invest in agro industries in Nepal.
Yasumasa Iwata, Director of the Mutual Food Industries, which produces seven tonnes of pickle daily and is one of top ten industries in Japan, said they came here to run industries based on agriculture in Nepal.
BOP Project Consultant Sasaki Masako said it will materialize after submitting study report of various places of Nepal including Butwal and its adjoining areas.
BCCI Chairman Surendra Prasad Shrestha said ginger, coffee, oranges and tomatoes had potentials for processing. He said BCCI was ready to co work as it had done in construction of Amda Hospital.
He also requested BOP to co-work in construction of Motipur Industrial Corridor.
Present in the discussion were BCCI former chairman Nawaraj Shrestha, Senior Vice Chairman Mahesh Man Singh, Vice Chairman Krishna Kumar Shrestha, Treasurer Ujjwal Kasaju, Khim Bahadur Hamal, Mohan Lal Shrestha, Shambhu Gupta, Meghnath Neupaney, Bibek Pradhan and Ananda Ojha.
