Nepali Congress Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel has assured to take initiatives to fulfill the demands of tourism entrepreneurs who are agitating against the Nepal Tourism Board.
Poudel also expressed solidarity with the ongoing protest of the Joint Tourism Coordination Committee (JTCC) during his visit to the relay hunger strike site at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) premises on Tuesday.
“I am aware of your protest as well as your demands,” Poudel said. "As a leader of a ruling party, I will talk to the concerned people in the government to make sure that your demands are addressed at the earliest."
Saying that he had already held meeting with CPN (UML) chairperson Jhalanath Khanal regarding the issues of the JTCC, Poudel said he will hold similar meeting with Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Acharya to address the demand of the entrepreneurs.
JTCC has been organising series of protests since the past three weeks demanding removal of Subash Nirola from the post of acting CEO of NTB to pave way for an early appointment of a new CEO.
Likewise, it has been demanding an independent audit of expenditures made by the NTB over the past five years and institutional representation of private sector in the board of NTB, among others.
