Nepal’s Basanta Raj Mishra has been elected secretary and treasurer of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA)’s new executive committee.
It was announced during PATA’s 63rd annual general meeting held at Zhuhai, China from 16th to 18th May, 2014, according to a statement.
Mishra is the chairperson of Temple Tiger Group in Nepal. He has served as an Executive Member of Nepal Tourism Board right after its initiation and was chairperson of PATA Nepal Chapter from 1992 to 1996.
This is the highest position a Nepali national has achieved since Nepal joined PATA in 1975.
Along with Mishra, PATA also elected chairperson and vice chairperson Scott Supernaw and Kevin Murphey (both from the USA), respectively.
Likewise, Ramon Jimenez Jr., Minister of Tourism from the Philippines and four others were also elected as members of the Executive Committee.
