The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) jointly organised a pre-budget discussion in the capital on Thursday.

Welcoming the newly-elected committee members of FNCCI on the occasion, IRD Director General Tanka Mani Sharma said the government has categorized the taxpayers and is expanding tax offices across the country.

Preparation is on to expand tax services in all 75 districts within three years, he said, informing that a technology-enabled system is being developed in the tax offices that allows tracking of the issuance of VAT bill.

On the occasion, FNCCI chairperson Pradip Jung Pandey said the tax rate to income generated from agro business in rural and urban area should be different and urged Ministry of Finance to revisit tax being imposed on overseas employment.
