Local rivers flooded by incessant rainfall have damaged the dams of Jairigad Hydropower Project in Dunai and Chhalgad Hydropower Project in Tripurakot in Dolpa district.

With obstruction in power generation, six Village Development Committees (VDCs) are living without electricity for the past two days.

The six VDCs where power generation has come to a halt include Tripurakot, Raha, Sun, Dunai, Juphal and Sahartara VDCs.

The Office of Nepal Electricity Authority in Dolpa has said the water level in the rivers has not decreased and therefore, it is difficult to reconstruct the dams. It will take almost two months to rebuild the dams, added the Authority.

The damage has hindered works at government and non-government offices in the district.
