A micro-bus heading to Kathmandu from Narayanghat plunged into the Trishuli river on Monday evening from Darechowk-9 on the Prithivi Highway.
According to Chitwan Police, two of the passengers were dead on spot while nine were rescued. One of the dead has been identified as Nita Poudel, 22, of Lalitpur. The other is a 32-year-old Australian female tourist, yet to be identified. Those rescued are undergoing treatment.
The micro-bus, numbered Ba 2 Kha 2598, was filled with passengers heading back after the Dashain tika. Police suspect that the bus was carrying about 22 passengers, including the driver.
Area Police Office Muglin and locals are still searching for the missing passengers.
