The CPN-UML's standing committee met on Wednesday, deciding on key issues of the election.
The meeting has unanimously decided the closed name list of 335 candidates under Proportional Representation (PR) category of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election scheduled for coming November 19.
The leaders also discussed the death of its candidate Mohammed Alam, who was gunned down in Bara during the course of election publicity campaign. CPN-UML has decided to declare Alam a martyr from the party side and called for the Nepal government to declare him a martyr from the state side as well. The party has demanded prompt investigation into the murder and action against guilty.
Alam was a first-past-the-post election candidate from Bara-4. The party has decided to field his wife Nazma Alam Khatun on his place.
The Standing Committee meeting has also endorsed the final draft of the election manifesto.
Major points included in the manifesto are nominating Prime Minister from direct election, carving out seven federal provinces, charting roadmap for the socio-economic development of the country and resolution to not organize shutdown and strikes, said UML leader Raghuji Panta.
The manifesto will be made public immediately after Dashain festival, said Panta.
