UCPN-Maoist cadres have robbed election campaign materials of Nepali Congress as the materials were being taken to Simli and Garayala in Rukum. The Maoist cadres looted 10 microphones, 200 t-shirts and appeal and publicity materials from Chiwang chautara in Rukum.
“Such an action is a sign that the party’s autocratic and dictatorship mentality has still not changed,” said NC’s spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC. “We deeply condemn this action and demand that the government provide adequate security to our party workers.”
KC accused the Maoists of committing such an act because it is nervous about the trust public has on Nepali Congress.
Only a few days ago, a YCL Ward Committee chairman and two other youths had given up their places in UPCN-Maoists and joined NC. They had been inducted to NC in the party’s assembly in Rukum. In May, Maoist cadres had pelted stones at a vehicle carrying NC central committee member Gagan Thapa in the same district.
