The Election Commission (EC) is making preparations for constituting a High Level Election Monitoring Committee targeting the November 19 Constituent Assembly polls.
According to RSS, preparations are underway to form the committee to be chaired by an election commissioner for effective monitoring of the election process. All other commissioners will be assigned to monitor the election process at the regional level.
The EC decided to form the monitoring committee realizing the need of effective monitoring to hold the election in a free and fair atmosphere, Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav said.
The EC has already granted permission to 53 national and three international observer groups to monitor the November 19 election. There are around 70,000 observers in these groups.
The EC has already written to Australia, Thailand, Republic of Korea, Japan and Britain requesting them to send observers including their parliamentary teams.
Likewise, the Election Commissions in the South Asian countries have also been invited for election monitoring, according to Commissioner Dr Rambhakta PV Thakur.
Meanwhile, the cases of violation of the election code of conduct are reportedly increasing, as the election date is approaching fast and the parties have intensified their election campaigns.
The EC, in the mean time, said it has been seriously responding to complaints on violations of the election code of conduct. nepalnews.com
