Police have concluded its investigation in regard to the murder of UML candidate in Bara-4, Mohammad Alam, unearthing that yet another UML leader Ram Chandra ‘Pyasi’ Kuswaha was behind the murder.
Kuswaha plotted and executed the murder, as he could not get the election ticket, which, instead, went to Alam, according to police on Sunday.
Kuswaha, 50, was a member of the first Constituent Assembly under the proportionate category. He is a permanent resident of Banjariya-8, Belaiya VDC in Bara district. Earlier, he was a teacher and social worker. He was expecting that the party (CPN-UML) will choose him for the election ticket in Bara-4. As it did not happen, he hired murderers to shoot Alam.
Alam was shot at on October 4 by two individuals riding a motorbike in Lipanimal-4 in front of a rice mill. Alam was airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment. His condition remained critical for a week before he finally succumbed to the bullet injury in his head on October 10. The UML announced that Alam’s wife, Nazma Khatun will now be the candidate on behalf of the party in the same constituency.
Kuswaha was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police Saturday night. He will be brought to Kathmandu for further legal prosecution, added the police
