General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Prakashman Singh, has said that the NC would now take leadership of the new government as per the people's mandate received in the recent election of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Addressing a program organised by the Bhojpure Dawali Samaj in Kathmandu Monday, Singh said that discussion was underway with different political parties to form the government.
Stressing the need of promulgating a republican constitution to maintain political stability, he expressed the view that the new constitution could be promulgated within a year by institutionalizing the agreements reached among political parties in the first CA.
Singh said that his party would play a key role to promulgate a new constitution on the basis of consensus by taking initiative to forge consensus on the disputed issues in the first CA and added that solution would be found out through election process otherwise.
The NC leader said that it was necessary to take the country towards peace and prosperity by giving the new constitution to the people within a year and stressed that democratic powers should be united and move ahead for the same, according to RSS.
