Chairperson of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic (MJF-D), Bijay Kumar Gachhedar on Friday met with Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and expressed his desire to join the government to be formed under the leadership of Koirala.

During the meeting held at Koirala's residence at Maharajgunj, Gachhedar congratulated NC for emerging as the largest party. Koirala, too, congratulated MJF-D for being the fifth largest party.

"Our party will have full support to the future government which will be based on consensus," Gachhedar said, according to Laxman Dhakal, Koirala's personal secretary.

On the issue of president's new election, Gachhedar was of the view that a new president should be elected once a full-fledged constitution comes into place.

In the November 19 elections, MJF-D bagged 4 seats in direct and 10 seats in the proportionate categories of election, thus accumulating 14 seats, in total.

NC and CPN (UML), the two largest parties, have been stressing on forming a consensus government but can also go for a majority government if the bid for consensus government fails. NC and UML together make a strong majority of 371 seats in the 601-member Constituent Assembly.
